Ashley defined the neighbourhood's appeal as 'the combination of village life coupled with easy access into central London'. While the FT identified high-achieving schools, proximity to the River Thames, the square footage in the grand family homes, as well as a highly organised and protective residents associations, which have campaigned against over-development in the area. But it hasn't been immune from the general downturn in London property prices over the last 12 months, with values falling around five per cent.
